Description
Deeds Not Words Badge:
Our “Deeds Not Words Badge” was taken from one of the famous slogans used by the suffragette movement.
Emmeline Pankhurst – Deeds Not Words
Emmeline Pankhurst was brought up in a politically active family. She became involved in women’s suffrage in 1880. Emmeline formed the Women’s Social & Political Union (WSPU), because her local branch of the Independent Labour Party refused to admit women members. Emmeline Pankhurst. was one of the women’s suffrage campaigners, and possibly the most famous suffragette.
The Pankhurst women were one of the most important families in the suffragettes, history. Along with her daughters Christabel, Silvia and Adela Pankhurst, Emmeline aimed to wake up the nation with ‘DEEDS NOT WORDS’ and the rest is history.
